SYMPHONIC SPACE
The next logical development from plastic space, spatial illusion, multiple
vanishing point and shifting focus, is 'symphonic space' - non-objective space which relies upon and transcends the former pictorial language by obeying basic tenets of musical orchestral composition, visually.
It is the consummate 'visual language' - one which goes beyond style and also necessarily the artist's personal vision.
This space places great demands on the viewer, forcing that he/she drop the
normal conditioned image reality, and shift into complete freedom of thought,
ending the mind's convergence of marks which make up accepted/consensus
views of the world.
The works challenge the 'ego/self' - the patterns of the autonomous self -
to destruct in order to see the work as it is, and not as thought thinks it
should be according to the safety of personal memory.
